When design meets passion

Prop design is one of my passions, challenging me to replicate the artistry of revered creators with the resources at my disposal.

E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL

MY VERSION (2022)

REFERENCE: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

Ever since my childhood, E.T. has held a special place in my heart. This endearing extra-terrestrial captivated my imagination and left me yearning for my very own lovable alien.

My vision for this project was clear from the start. I wanted to do more than create a static replica—I aimed to make E.T. come alive through movement, fulfilling a lifelong dream of bringing this beloved character into our world.

HAND SCULPTED

SEALED + PRIMED

DRY-BRUSH ACRYLIC

By using a combination of Crayola air-dry clay, acrylic paint, and ingenuity, I brought this character to life. I repurposed a wireless desk fan to help achieve the oscillating head movement.

SLIMER: GHOSTBUSTERS

MY VERSION (2022)

REFERENCE: Ghostbusters (1984)

Slimer, the lovable ghoul from the Ghostbusters franchise, is as iconic as he is green. With countless iterations of this famous specter over the years, I was inspired to embark on a creative journey to craft my own unique rendition.

This also marked my introduction into the world of ZBrush sculpting. Upon its completion, I had the incredible opportunity to bring my creation to life by resin printing my model.

This project not only paid homage to the beloved Ghostbusters character but also served as a significant milestone in my artistic growth.

DEMOGORGON:
STRANGER THINGS

MY VERSION (2022)

REFERENCE: Stranger Things Season 1 (2016)

I'm a massive fan of the Netflix series Stranger Things, particularly the design of the monstrous Demogorgon, a creature from another dimension.

In the show, they enter the world through red, glowing rifts. So immediately, I began brainstorming ways to make my own Demogorgon appear as though it's breaking out of a portal and entering my own house. I knew to pull this off I was going to need to use lighting as well as unconventional materials to bring this to life.

INSULATION FOAM

LED ROPE LIGHTS

I knew I needed to find a lightweight and cost-effective way to construct such a large structure. Eventually, I discovered that spray insulation foam was the ideal solution. I could apply this foam in segments and sculpt it as it dried. To achieve the signature red glow, I planned to line the structure with rope lighting.

MIND FLAYER:
STRANGER THINGS

MY VERSION (2023)

REFERENCE: Stranger Things Season 3 (2019)

When the idea of hosting a watch party for the newest season of Stranger Things was proposed, I knew I wanted to go big—quite literally.

Inspired by the Mind Flayer from the series, I embarked on a creative endeavor to transform my family’s sunroom into a fully immersive experience, bringing the spine-tingling universe of “Stranger Things” to life.

OVER 10 FT TALL!

This immense creature was brought to life by utilizing everyday household materials: paper, fishing lines, and copious amounts of staples. By working on different segments, piece by piece he was assembled!

COMING SOON

My next project is going to challenge me more than anything that has come before it…

DALEK: DOCTOR WHO

REFERENCE: Doctor Who (2005)

I geek out on the British sci-fi series Doctor Who, and with the 60th anniversary this year, I saw it as the perfect time to start crafting a life-sized version of one of its iconic villains.

My plan is to construct it from lightweight cardboard, designing it in a way that allows all the pieces to interlock for easy assembly of such a large and intricate piece. Additionally, I'm eager to explore adding sound effects and making it remote-controllable, both of which I've never attempted before.
